Richard Siegal

The focus of the work of the dancer and choreographer Richard Siegal is the interdisciplinary exploration of new forms of contemporary dance. Until 1997 he danced in New York e.g. with the companies of Doug Elkins, Zvi Gotheiner, Janis Brenner, Robin Staff, Muna Tseng, Sin Cha Hong and Mark Dendy. From 1997 to 2004 he was a soloist in William Forsythe's ensemble at the Frankfurt Ballet and was also associated with him as an Associated Artist of the Forsythe Company. In 2002 Siegal founded the platform The Bakery, an association of artists from different disciplines from music to media art, with whom he has since realized numerous interdisciplinary projects. He has received the New York Dance and Performance Bessie Award, the German Theater Prize DER FAUST, the s.a.c.d. Prize (Beaumarchais) and the Mouson Award. In 2012 he received the Dance Prize of the City of Munich.
