Isadora Duncan is regarded as one of the pioneers of modern dance, whose revolutionary approach broke away from the rigid conventions of classical ballet. Focusing on natural movement, emotional expression, and a deep connection to music, Duncan transformed dance into a medium for personal and artistic freedom. Her flowing movements, barefoot dancing, and expressive use of the torso challenged traditional notions of technique and performance. She was particularly inspired by the art and aesthetics of ancient Greece, whose ideals she incorporated into the costumes, movement vocabulary, and spatial design of her works.
«3 Isadoras» was first performed in 2021 as part of the DANCE Festival Munich Dance History Walk & Talk Tours at the renowned Villa Stuck. The villa, originally built by painter-prince Franz von Stuck as a Gesamtkunstwerk, had already hosted a historic visit by Duncan in 1902: she presented her dances there in a tunic and persuaded Stuck in a four-hour conversation of the sanctity of her mission and the artistic significance of dance. At that time, she performed in the hall rather than on a stage to be close to the audience, and with her unprecedented, rhythmically flowing movements, she revolutionized dance aesthetics. Choreographed by Ivan Liška, «3 Isadoras» connects to this legacy, celebrates Duncan’s enduring influence, and invites audiences to experience her spirit and vision in
