Our posters have been hanging on cultural pillars throughout Munich since the beginning of May. With the help of our graphic design agency PP&P, we designed a five-part poster series showing Oskar Schlemmer’s expressive costumes all over the city.
Already have your ticket? We would be delighted to welcome you to the Prinzregententheater and to show you this special production in the choreographic version by Gerhard Bohner with costume reconstructions by Ulrike Dietrich. Since its premiere in 1977 at the Academy of Arts in Berlin, this extraordinary work has enjoyed great success touring extensively.
86 performances later, in 1989 the costumes were packed into boxes for a quarter of a century only to be brought back out again in 2014 for the long-awaited event of the TANZFONDS ERBE-funded co-production between the Berlin Academy of Arts and the Bavarian State Ballet. Ivan Liška and Colleen Scott, who had danced in Bohner’s original reconstruction helped shaped the with their own language of movement, and consequently restaged this legendary ballet with the young dancers of the Bavarian Junior Ballet Munich.
“It’s one of my strongest artistic experiences as a young dancer and experiencing this particular concept of dance has enriched my career immensely. I wish the same for the young dancers,” said Ivan Liška. It was only natural for him to personally pass the work on to the generation of dancers of the 21st century: and for the past decade this valuable legacy has been in the hands of Liška and the Bavarian Junior Ballet Munich as they have toured to Italy, Poland, Hong Kong and numerous cities in Germany – very much a success story.
